Week Twelve

For this week session, we summarized our retail analysis as class.

The factors to make a garment cheaper without compromising the design are:
  • Where it's made
  • Cheaper rental/ Labour/ Miscellaneous cost 
  • Purchase fabric in bulk
  • Shipping fees/ Taxes
  • Laud-ability
  • Trimmings

The major and minor cost contributors in any garment being manufactured. For instance: 
  • Fabric wastage
  • Labour cost (machine vs people)
  • Amount of garments produce
  • Complexity
  • Logistics cost
  • Time frame of garment needed
  • Type of garment produced

Types of animal leather
  • Shark leather
  • Cow leather
  • Crocodile leather
  • Pig leather
  • Fish leathers- Shark
  • Horse leather
  • Zebra leather
  • Sheep leather
  • Ostrich leather
  • Deer leather

To conclude, the major factors contribute to cost of garments are logistics, fabric wastage, shipping, time frame of garment needed, complexity, design, cost of buying designs from designers, time spent on garments, labour cost and machinery cost. The minor factors are logistics, packaging, miscellaneous and overheads.
